In order to clean your nails before getting a gel manicure and to remove them afterwards, you’ll need cotton pads to apply rubbing alcohol to. Builder coats and gels

After some trial and error, I found Nail Systems and haven’t looked back. Builder gels are essential for me. I’ve tried a few of the other colours, but my personal favourite is the standard Clarity clear builder gel. Presence is a lovely milky-white colour that works well for glazed doughnut nails, milk bath nails, and any other manicure that calls for a delicate, translucent white foundation.

LED UV lamp

I got a “half” lamp by mistake, so I have to cure my thumbs and fingers under the lamp separately. My best advice is to get one that fits your entire hand. Smaller lamps, like mine, are much less expensive, but if you can afford the larger one, I believe the convenience alone makes the difference. Alcohol rubbing

In a gel manicure, rubbing alcohol cleans the nail bed and gets rid of the gel polish. For this task, rubbing alcohol with a 91% alcohol content is ideal, though anything 70% or higher can work well. By dehydrating the nail surface, rubbing alcohol helps the gel polish adhere better and last longer without peeling or chipping.

Kit for removal

Lastly, a kit for removing gel polish. After you’ve soaked your nails, you’ll at least need a metal tool to remove the polish. The goal is to remove the polish as cleanly and damage-free as possible. It works just as well to wrap your nails in silver foil, but I have a remover set similar to this one with the plastic clips. You may already have the brush, wipes, files, etc., or you may decide you don’t need them.
