Introduction
Dental tourism in Turkey has turned “teeth in a day” into a slogan. At a family-run dental clinic in Şişli, Istanbul — where Dr. Dt. Devrim Biriken Sipahi has practised for more than 35 years, now with her son, Dt. Ekin Sipahi — the phrase comes with a condition attached: the bone decides, and the bone is read on a 3D scan before anything is promised.
Two measurements decide same-day loading. “For immediate loading we look at the density and the width of the bone,” the clinic explains. Dense, wide bone can hold an implant firmly enough to carry a temporary tooth the same day. Soft bone cannot: the implants are left to heal, usually about three months — three to four depending on the implant system — and the final teeth are made on a second visit. Which of the two you will be is a first-day finding — examination, X-ray, 3D scan — not something a quote can tell you in advance.
What “teeth the same day” actually means. When the bone allows it, temporary teeth are designed from the 3D scan and made on a 3D printer from PMMA or resin. They are there to look right, not to chew hard: during healing the clinic asks for a soft diet, and the temporaries serve as a cosmetic bridge until the permanent teeth are fitted. Patients who cannot be loaded immediately return after about three months for the permanent work.
When there is not enough bone. Severe bone loss cannot be judged without looking. If the bone is insufficient, the clinic uses grafting or bone augmentation — more involved and more costly, and it lengthens the process, but it gives the implant a proper foundation. This, too, is decided on the scan — an honest plan arrives after the examination, not before it.
Brands and the question of guarantees. The clinic places imported implant systems. Asked about warranty certificates, the answer is plain: there is no paperwork to hide behind — if an implant fails, a new one is placed. And what matters more than any brand, in their experience, is the experience of the clinic and of the dentist placing the implant.
How it works from abroad. Treatment starts as soon as you arrive in Istanbul. Before that, you send photos or an X-ray on WhatsApp and the dentist — not a call centre — replies with a written plan; appointments are arranged around your travel dates and the clinic is open seven days a week. The procedure, the healing timeline and the day-by-day programme are described on the clinic’s page about dental implants in Turkey, and the practice can be checked on Google, where it holds 4.9 stars.
Final Thoughts
The useful question to ask any dental clinic in Turkey is therefore not “can I have my teeth in a day?” but “what does my bone look like on the scan?” The first question has a sales answer. The second has a medical one.
